Gessai Fukui Galleries
In the 1890s Gessai edited a series of picture books which included woodblock-printed copies of paintings by famous Japanese artists. In thirteen of these books the pictures were of flowers and birds. These flower-and-bird picture books are included in this gallery, grouped below by painting style (i.e., Kanō, Maruyama-Shijō, Nihonga). Click a book's title to see its pictures.
